Common Questions
Can I combine the reimbursement with other funding?
Yes. The 25% base reimbursement (or 35% enhanced rate) is a cash refund, not a tax credit, and approved co-productions can also pursue Icelandic Film Centre grants, the Nordic Film & TV Fund, or Eurimages. The same costs cannot be funded twice.
How is the reimbursement paid?
It is paid as cash directly from the Icelandic State Treasury once the Icelandic Film Centre approves your final audited cost report and confirms the eligible expenses.
Is there a cap on the reimbursement amount?
No. There is no cap on the total reimbursement, and the 25% base rate has no minimum spend requirement either.
Do I need an Icelandic production company?
Yes. Work with an Icelandic production services company. Fixers in Iceland can serve as your local partner and handle all requirements.

Maximize Your Production Budget in Iceland
To secure your letter of intent, the production should meet the Icelandic Film Centre's eligibility criteria — advancing Icelandic culture, showcasing the country's history or natural environment, or developing the experience, expertise, and artistic ambitions of those involved. We help structure your project and paperwork to meet them. Contact Fixers in Iceland to discuss your next project.
